The adapter links digital DVI-D single-link video outputs via an existing DVI cable to devices with an HDMI socket such as monitors, projectors, or TVs. The connection works passively without conversion and transmits only the video signal. Audio is generally not carried over DVI; if a graphics card feeds audio over DVI, it can be passed through to HDMI.
