What are cinch plugs used for?
Cinch is a plug connection that is mostly used on coaxial cables.
It is used for the asymmetrical transmission of electrical signals. The correct name for cinch (or the English term) is ‘RCA’. In practice, RCA is mainly used in the domestic audio and video sector. A largely uniform colour coding makes it easier to classify the plugs:
Audio
| White: | Left analogue channel |
| Red: | Right analogue channel |
| Orange: | Digital audio (S/PDIF) |
| Black: | Subwoofer or centre channel |
Video
| Yellow: | Composite Video |
| Green: | Component Video, Brightness (Yy) |
| Blue: | Component Video, Colour difference (Pb) |
| Red: | Component Video, Colour difference (Pr) |
